Woody Allen"s Film "A Rainy Day In New York" Will Finally Be Released - kkccb.net

According to a report from IndieWire, Woody Allen didn’t release a new movie last year, ending a 39-year streak. In the midst of the #MeToo movement, Amazon Studios chose to cancel their work with him on his 2017 film, A Rainy Day In New York.

Reportedly, Amazon shelved the film due to the allegations against the director from the early 1990s. His daughter, Dylan Farrow, has repeatedly accused Woody of molesting her. IndieWire revealed the movie will finally come out, but in Italy, on the 3rd of October. The distributor, Lucky Red, picked it up after Amazon’s cancelation.

Several years ago, Amazon signed a four-movie deal with Woody Allen, a list including Wonder Wheel, Cafe Society, as well as Rainy Day. However, possibly in fear of media backlash, Amazon chose to cancel their deal with him on account of the decades-old accusations.

The filmmaker recently announced he was suing the internet giant for refusing to release the film. Woody accused Amazon of knowing about the allegations long before they signed the deal, and they changed their mind at the last minute due to a fear of political activist backlash.

. . #woodyallen #midnightinparis #marioncotillard #romcom #movie #movienight

The company responded with a statement in which they claimed that they never knew of the allegations beforehand and that Allen’s statements regarding the #MeToo movement made it “impracticable” to release the movie.

A representative for the outlet claimed Amazon wouldn’t be able to profit from the deal they had previously made as a consequence of his incendiary remarks. While many outspoken stars have refused to work with Allen again, the vast majority have chosen to stick behind him, including Anjelica Houston.

A Rainy Day In New York, for instance, stars Liev Schreiber, Diego Luna, Jude Law, Selena Gomez, as well as Elle Fanning. Allen is working on a new movie already in Spain.

As it was noted above, Dylan Farrow, Woody’s daughter, accused the acclaimed director of sexually abusing her back in 1992, after a babysitter claimed to have seen Woody behaving weird toward their adopted daughter.
