James Gunn Says That Getting Booted Off Guardians Film Helped Him Make Progress As A Person - kkccb.net

According to a report from Page Six, James Gunn recently revealed that his Guardians Of The Galaxy firing was an educational rather than a traumatic experience. In July of last year, Mr. Gunn lost his job as the director of the box-office smashing franchise, due to years of pedophiliac tweets and other sexual jokes.

During a conversation with The Associated Press, Mr. Gunn said he is a “better person” than he was a year ago. The notorious director stated the whole ordeal made him a better director, as well as emphasized all of the most important things in his life, including his friends, family, and his art.

Ironically, his “dark” period wasn’t that terrible, considering he was hired shortly after to helm the Suicide Squad sequel. Following the controversy of late last year, Gunn is now promoting Brightburn, which he played a role in producing, as well as the third installment of the Guardians franchise.

Three years ago today our friends @themichaelrosenbaum & @saraesanderson set us up on a blind date (well, nothing is really blind anymore with the internet – a post-IG-stalking date?) On our fifteen minute drive to dinner we had already discussed our thoughts on marriage, having children, and psycho exes. As we entered the restaurant, while we were waiting to be seated, we discussed the deaths of loved ones in our lives. Intimate, honest, casual discussion was the natural energy between us. I didn’t know @jenniferlholland’s place in my life by the end of the evening, but I knew she was very different from anyone I had every known. Today, she is a part of my life and family in every way. Love you, Jenn! Happy Anniversary to us! #❤️

According to James, one of the things he values most about the world of Hollywood, is that there is a ton of great people to work with, and whatever the city’s faults, he can always rely on all of the stand-up individuals, including Elizabeth Banks, who stars in Brightburn.

James lost his job after two conservative commenters, Mike Cernovich and Jack Posobiec, allegedly gathered years of tweets from the director and distributed them online. After the tweets caught the attention of Disney, the chairman of the company, Alan Horn, said they were “inconsistent with the studio’s values.”

After he was fired, nearly all of the actors who worked on the film, including Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Chris Pratt wrote a letter in which they asked for his reinstatement. Pratt said he doesn’t support his jokes from ten years ago, but “he is a good man.”

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the entire ordeal is that Disney chose to rehire him and announced he was reinstated as both the director and the writer for the next Guardians flick. The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, said to reporters from The Associated Press last month he was happy it all went down.

Mr. Feige explained that Alan Horn believed it was the right thing to do to give James his job back.
